Organisers
What a great day to be out and about in the forest. You turned out in
very good numbers and challenged our assumptions about how many
pre-printed maps we would need on two of the courses - thanks to those
of you who allowed us to 'recycle their map. If you left your details
we will be sending you a replacement map.
A big thank you to team leaders and their helpers - their efficiency
made the day a success. Particular thanks to those who provided soup and
eats, and even more to the one who sent the weather.

Planner
This was a daunting task and I was given a kick start in early October
because the forester wanted to approve the areas we were likely to
visit. Luckily, at this time of year there are very few restrictions.
Dave Cooke will confirm that access permissions are complicated given
the number of agencies involved. Many thanks, Dave for ensuring
everything was in place. My thanks also go to Tony Buckland whose was
advice and guidance, as controller, proved invaluable, Bob Alderson who
kept me on the timetable and ensured that all teams were geared up for
the day. Also thanks to my 2 helpers, David Winser and Peter Catrer,
without whose help I would not have managed on the day. I should also
thank John Palmer for assembling the control at 143 (John gets a 15
second bonus).
I would also like to thank Bob for making sure that the weather was
good and the moon was out when my head torch failed as I was trying to
locate 143 (what was it with 143?) at 7 o'clock on Saturday night. Also
for making sure that it stayed dry throughout the day and making it a
most enjoyable event. Future planners, please note the statistics on
entry by courses. Blue courses appear to be most popular. The weather
does make a difference, but do not under-estimate the indomitable spirit
of the seasoned and seasonable orienteer!
